I believe the best way to hold yourself accountable for goals is to make them public. Then add them into your daily lifestyle so they stick.
Here are my goal results and backing details to my lifestyle changes in 2023:
1. Improve Health - Get 8 hours sleep
I've successfully made the needed changes to ensure sleep is part of my lifestyle.
Getting the right amount of sleep each day is super important to our health.
What I realized is that 8 hours is too much for me. I requires between 7 and 7.5 hours per night.
I reset my body clock by making sure that I get up at 6a, 7 days a week.
I go to bed between 10p and 11p each day, 7 days a week
Now wear my watch to bed every night. The watch has ability to track my sleep so I can see the 3 levels of sleep with the % for each.
Drink a single cup of coffee first thing in the morning. No more drinking many cups through the day. If I drink 2 cups in a day it shows up on sleep tracker.
2. Become a reader - Read 4 books
I didn't meet this goal for 2023.
I read 1 of 4 books.
I still watch too much TV - main issue!
I realized there were more activities that I enjoyed more.
I want to love reading again and give it the priority it deserves.
3. Improve Health - Lose 16 pounds
I reached this goal in the 3rd week of December. Barely made it! 😀
Consistency and discipline are the core for this goal in 2023.
I get up every morning and drink 8 oz of cold water quickly. This gets the metabolism going.
I reduced the amount of food at each meal to reduce calories. I cut meals in half when we go out to eat.
I walk outdoors and indoors 6 days per week for 1 hour minimum.
When I walk on treadmill I have a routine that sets at 3.4 speed with incline at 0, 2, 4, 8, 12, 8, 4, 2, 0. Each incline I walk for 1 minute.
I built a healthy relationship with our Wyze scale by weighing 4 days per week minimum. Using its app I can capture and track weight, muscle mass, water, fat and BMI among other things.
I drink 72 oz water every day from a water bottle that I carry with me to fill up. This way I know exactly how much I'm drinking. Plus, it saves water bottles in the landfill.
Added pickleball outdoor activity to burn a ton of calories while having fun.
Ate at home way more. It's so tough to eat out and lose weight.
